It’s standard procedure in Texas for officers involved in an alleged police shooting to be placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated. The alleged officer-involved shooting occurred following the alleged robbery at the Target near North Star Mall located at Rector Drive and Northwest Loop 410. The officer went to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Then a second police officer opened fire and allegedly struck the suspect in the abdomen. McManus said the knife the suspect pulled was large enough to kill a person. After a police car blocked the man on the bike, the young man pulled a knife and allegedly cut a police officer on the left hand. Three police cruisers went in pursuit of the alleged bike thief, according to Police Chief William McManus. At about 6:30 p.m., a man evaded security, took off on a stolen BMX bicycle, and was riding on the Northwest Loop 410 highway. The San Antonio Police Department was called regarding a robbery in progress. Kloppe raised the gun to her head, according to McManus, after which there was a struggle with her and police officers. The door was locked, but they made entry and found that she was holding a Glock pistol. When officers went to her home, they discovered that Kloppe was in her bedroom. Initially, however, Kloppe contacted police, saying she was being stalked. Police officers went to her home on Saturday afternoon to do a welfare check. Kloppe had a history of mental illness, according to William McManus, San Antonio Police Chief.
